There are many things you can do in Essan bothy. You can while away the hours looking across the shores of Loch Eilt and admire the mountains that flank it's deep, blue waters. You could head off into those mountains yourself and enjoy days climbing their flanks, summiting their peaks and breathing in their fresh mountain air. Or you can sit inside, drink too much sherry and be scared of that rumour that a Wild Haggis had been spotted just down the glen and it's thirsty for human blood. 'Yeah, I know there's no such thing as a haggis'. But will you be so sure in the howling wind. The walls are thin and they can break through.
